Milton Easel Card

When I have heard in the past that moving can be one of the most stressful things you can do in life, I have wondered what all the fuss was all about. Well, I take it all back. We finally have a moving date of next Tuesday after over a year of being on a horrendous emotional rollercoaster and I can't wait to get off!!! I am not moving again, EVER! One of the casualties of all the ups and downs has been my crafting which has been pretty much a non-entity lately and I will be away from my craft desk for a few more days while we settle in. However, hopefully the next card I make will be from my craft room (well, my half of our new office) in my new house. So, until then I have chosen a cracker of a challenge - LOTV have some new stamps and to celebrate they are having a Blog Hop with some great prizes up for grabs. The theme is 'Anything Goes' as long as you use a stamp or digi image. I have made an easel card for a change and am off to start hopping.

Black & White Bear

My second card today was made for the challenge at Just Cute Bears & Friends where I have followed the sketch. The papers are from the Papermania Capsule Collection, the stamped image is 'Squeak' from Docrafts, the sentiment is from Dovecraft, the 'pearls' were made with a Viva Pearl Pen (ice white) and anything else is from stash. The photo could have been better, but as usual I was in a rush!

Christmas Penguins

I finally found myself with a couple of hours to spare this weekend and so have made two quick cards. The first is a card made up of freebies. The papers and paper embellishments were all free with 'Simply Cards & Papercraft' and the penguins were a freebie from Tales from Pollycraft and have been coloured with promarkers. Christmas sentiments, ribbon and gems are from stash. I have followed the sketch at the Pollycraft Monday Challenge and have also entered at Crafty Cardmakers where the theme is to 'Use a Freebie'.

Halloween

Wow, my last post was after 10 days of no cardmaking, this time it's been nearly a month! What with internet problems, poorly children, packing up because we thought the move was on etc etc, I thought I'd never get back to my craft desk. We still haven't moved in, but I couldn't go on any longer without entering a challenge card. So to my husband's dismay I have unpacked some boxes and managed to put together today's card. I have been popping to my favourite blogs when I can and have had to let some great challenges go without entering, but this week there are lots to choose from and I have tried to make this card fit as many as possible!
CYDA - recipe 1 circle, 2 papers, 3 ribbons
CES - 'Buttons & Bows'
Magical Monday - 'Halloween'
The Creative Cottage - 'Halloween'
Crafts & Me - 'Halloween'
Stamp Something - Use a Digi

The digi I have used came from Beccy's Place and is coloured with promarkers
The black cat stamp came free with an issue of 'The Stamper' magazine
Papers are from The Creative Cottage
Ribbons, buttons, candy pips are all from stash

Although you can't see in the photo, the spider's web in the middle is highlighted with a Sakura Tiara silver pen

Autumn

Oh my gosh, it's been 10 days since I posted or made any challenge cards! It's been such a hectic week with two births (my best friend's 4th child and my brother-in-law's 1st), five birthdays including my youngest son's and mine and all sorts of problems with our new house to sort out, so it's not really surprising I haven't got to my craft desk at all! To make up for it, today's card is for several challenges to give me time to catch up with myself! At CYDA the theme is 'Autumn Doodles' and I have handwritten the sentiment as I cannot draw to save my life! At CES this week's theme is 'Animal Antics', at Stamp Something it is 'Fall Colours'. There is a similar theme of 'Indian Summer' at Penny Black Saturday and finally I have made my own flowers to fit in with the theme of 'Grow Your Own' at YNS.

Stamp - Penny Black 'Bunny Bath' coloured with promarkers and chalks
Sentiment written using a Sakura Tiara pen
Paper - Papermania Capsule Collection

Christmas Easel Card

I thought it was about time to make a start on my Christmas cards, so today's card features one of the adorable Milton & Co stamps from Wild Rose Studio. I love my traditional red and green Christmas, but I've got some lovely new Promarkers and so have gone for blues on this card. I have followed the sketch at ICS and have also entered the challenges at Crafts & Me - theme - Easel Card, Just Cute Bears - theme - 'Punch It' and - Pollycraft - theme 'Cute & Cuddly'.

Stamp - Christmas Milton - Wild Rose Studio
Paper, card, gems and ribbon from stash

A Card for Ava

My sister-in-law went into labour this morning and as usual I had left things to the last minute and had to set to and make a card for my mother-in-law to give to her (beats cleaning the bathroom!). Luckily we know it's going to be a girl and they have decided to call her Ava, so I had something to work with. As a bonus I had a peek at some of my favourite blogs and I saw that this week's theme at CES is 'Baby Bonanza', so I have entered my card there. Hopefully I'll have another entry for the challenge soon as I am off to make her a card from my family now and hope that she holds on for a few hours to give me time to make it lol!!

By the river

Today's card features a stamp I bought from LOTV a little while ago that I haven't used as I was unsure how to colour in the water. After a bit of a play I decided that none of my ink pads were quite the right blue and then I remembered my chalks that have been somewhat neglected recently and here is the result. I have also had a go at paper piecing with the 'sail'. I have followed the sketch at ICS, have used 'Stripes & Spots' for the challenge at Stamp Something and the image is just right for the 'One for the Boys' challenge at LOTV.

Image stamp - 'By the river' - LOTV coloured with Promarkers and chalks
Sentiment stamp - Kanban

Recessed Window Card

After whinging about my photographic skills, I have realised that my problem is taking photos indoors or on cloudy days - seeing as cloudy days are all we seem to be getting at the moment, I thought any future photos would be doomed! However, I have had a play with my phone camera (the only one I own) and have discovered the exposure button. Oh joy, what a difference it made! Now, I realise that I'm never going to win any awards for my photos, but at least they will be a lot less grainy! Looking at past posts I see that nearly all of my challenge card entries have included stamped images. This is quite a turnaround for me, as, until a few months ago I didn't like stamping at all. This was because I could never colour in the images to a standard I was happy with, but that all changed when I discovered Promarkers and now it seems that I don't ever make any other kind of cards. So I have decided to do something different for the challenge at Just Cute Bears where we have been asked to 'Go Dotty'. My card features Bubbles from the Daisy & Dandelion range and I have decoupaged her onto a recessed window card I made instead of my usual flat card. I thought she would be perfect for this challenge as not only are the papers/card dotty, but she has tiny dots on her ballerina dress.

Mermaid

I'm a bit cross with myself today. I made this card for the 'Myth & Magic' challenge at I Love Promarkers leaving it a bit late as always and now I can't seem to take a decent picture. I'll have to enter it as it is as I am running out of time, I'm not sure if it's a problem with my camera or my poor photographic skills (I suspect the latter!). Anyway, here it is photographic warts and all!

New challenge at CYDA and my first GD card

At last, it's challenge #3 at Craft Your Days Away- it seems to have taken ages to come around! I am particularly excited about this challenge as I get to show off my GD card. The theme is 'Girly 'n' Glitter' and I defy anyone not to be able to think of loads of projects for this challenge! I decided that my card would have to be pink - very girly and my favourite colour! I had lots of ideas for the images, but finally settled on a subject close to many girls' hearts - shoes! I had a lot of fun making this and would like to thank the girls at CYDA for picking me to be the first GD. Why not pop over there and have a peek at the DT's lovely creations and join in the fun.

Shoe and large sentiment stamps - Hero Arts
Small Sentiment stamp - Dovecraft
DP and card from stash
Swirls - Marianne Designs - cut with Cuttlebug
Roses - Wild Orchid Crafts

The only problem with being a GD is that I don't get to enter the challenge!! So I have found a few challenges that my card fits:

Crafty Cardmakers - Glitter & sparkle
Crafts and Me - Gems and sparkle
Creative Cottage - Celebrations
Your Next Stamp - Anything goes

Bears, Bears, Bears

I must admit I am a bit of a 'bearoholic', and I love this Bear image from Wild Rose Studio. At Just Cute Bears this week the theme is 'Embossing', at PFP it is 'Teddy Bears Picnic' and there is a great sketch over at ICS, so I have incorporated all these things into today's card and have even found a few other challenges that it fits.

Stamp - Wild Rose Studio - Milton & Co, Gardening Millie coloured with Promarkers
Papers - a mix from stash and Papermania Capsule Collection
Embossing done with my Cuttlebug using 'Swiss Dots' and 'D'vine Swirls' embossing folders

Other challenges I would like to enter
Stamp Something - Something Cute
CES - Floral Frenzy
Anything Goes - Say it with Flowers

Butterfly Fairy

I have been busy putting the final touches to my GD card for the next challenge at Craft Your Days Away, but in the meantime, I couldn't resist sneaking another entry into this fortnight's challenge. The theme is 'With Wings' and this lovely image is perfect as the fairy is also a butterfly. I have also entered the challenge at 'Magical Monday' as the theme there is 'Flowers' and I think this card qualifies (might have overdone it a bit!).

Dragon

I know I am not the only one who struggles with making cards for boys/men, why is that? Anyway it took me a while, but I came up with this one for my nephew. I followed the sketch from this week's challenge at Passion for Promarkers . I also used autumn colours as requested - just squeaked in for the challenge! And as I used a dragon image I have also entered the challenge at Craft Your Days Away where this fortnight's theme is 'With Wings'. I wasn't sure how to embellish this one as being for a boy I didn't think flowers were an option. So I opted for some green chipboard shapes that I found lurking in the bottom of my drawers - they are supposed to look like claws, not sure if anyone will realise that , lol!

Summer Lovin'

Well, the sun made an appearance yesterday, but seems to have disappeared again, so I had to settle for making a card with a summery theme - this week at Penny Black Saturday Challenge it is 'Summer Lovin' and I have used a hedgehog image as it is one of my favourite characters from the Penny Black range. I have followed a great sketch for this week's challenge at ICS and am really pleased with the end result.

Just For You

Oh gosh, I've gone a whole week without making any cards, where does the time go?!! One of the hardest things living with my mother-in-law is not being able to slope off to craft when I want as I feel guilty! However, I am home alone today and so I have been indulging myself. Today's effort is for two challenges. At LOTV, this week's theme is to 'go dotty with circles' and at the very first challenge at CES the theme is 'Anything goes'. There are some yummy stamps up for grabs and let's face it, you can never have enough stamps!

GD news

I'm feeling pretty good today, despite the rubbish weather (again) and hearing that our house will not be ready for another few weeks (groan) - I have been picked as GD for week #3 challenge at Craft Your Days Away! I must admit I am slightly nervous as this will be the first time I have done anything like this and I would hate to let down the DT, but I'm also looking forward to it. CYDA is a new fortnightly challenge blog where you can enter any kind of project as long as you follow the theme - this fortnight it is 'With Wings' and the prize is a lovely stamp from Crafty Emma's Store. So I'm off to start on my entry as I will have to get lots of practice in for my GD spot! Why not pop over to CYDA and have peek.

Winter Blue

If anyone spots the sun, please will they let me know?! it's been absolutely abysmal weather here! To add to my misery, living in someone else's house is starting to take it's toll and on top of that I feel lousy. So my lovely boss (aka husband) gave me the afternoon off yesterday, but I didn't take to my sick bed, but to my craft desk, because, as I'm sure you will all agree, a little bit of crafting is a fantastic tonic! Actually it's done me a favour, as I have managed to make one card for two challenges. The challenge at Passion for Promarkers this week is 'Winter Blue' and I have also entered this week's challenge at ICS as I have followed this week's sketch.

Pretty in Purple

I have decided that after paying out for a Cuttlebug a few months ago, I really ought to use it more! So today's card has been made with that in mind and the embossing and embellishments (apart from the buttons) have all been cut with it. I must admit I don't normally use quite so much 'bling' on my cards and I'm not sure whether I have overdone it. I was pleased with the image though, I am slowly getting the hang of my Promarkers and instead of using them like felt tip pens (lol!) I am blending the colours better - I just need to add a few colours/shades - just as well my Birthday is coming up! I have entered the card into this week's challenge at Just Cute Bears where the theme is 'Buttons and Blooms'.

Stamp - Forever Friends coloured with Promarkers

Lazy Summer Afternoon

I don't know what has happened to the sun we were promised this morning, it certainly hasn't made an appearance here, so I thought I'd cheer myself up by making a card for the 'Four Seasons' challenge at LOTV. I have used one of my newly purchased LOTV stamps, which I adore and some new papers and have tried to get a nice summery feel to my card. I have noticed that most cardmaking bloggers give a summary of the items they have used for their creations. I must admit I have shied away from doing this as I often have no idea where my bits and pieces have come from! I'm a bit of a storage nut and when I've bought new things, they come out of their wrappers and get put into various storage files/boxes etc. However as I have used new things today I know exactly where they came from, so here is a list!

Papers - Papermania Capsule Collection
Stamp - LOTV - 'Lazy Afternoon' coloured using Promarkers
Sentiment stamp - Popcorn The Bear - Father's Day

New Challenge Blog - CES Challenges

I have been following Crafty Emma's Blog for a while now and not only has she opened a new shop, but she has now got her own Challenge Blog (I don't know where she gets the time to fit everything in!). The first challenge at CES Challenges will take place on Saturday 28th August, but until then Emma is offering some very tasty candy to 3 lucky winners, so pop over to find out more and enter the draw.

RRR Blog Hop

Just a quick post before I fall into bed. I have just discovered RRR (Really Reasonable Ribbons) which is an excellent place to shop for your ribbons. They have a great blog (Really Reasonable Ribbon's Ramblings) and at the moment there is a fantastic blog hop taking place, so if you fancy joining in the fun and getting the chance to win some yummy blog candy along the way just click here!

On the Beach

Oh dear! This card is such a late entry it may not even qualify for the Penny Black Saturday Challenge. I didn't think I had anything suitable to fit in with the theme of 'On the Beach', then I came across this little fella enjoying his ice-cream, so I think it should count. I also am entering the challenge at ICS and have followed this week's lovely sketch. I have a free weekend coming up and intend to spend it crafting with some newly purchased goodies, so hopefully I shall be posting some more challenge cards soon!

Favourite Things

Well, I didn't quite keep my promise, as this card is for the LOTV challenge which ends tonight! The theme is another great sketch. However I have been browsing my favourite blogs and have discovered two new challenge blogs where the challenges are fortnightly and I am in plenty of time for them! At Magical Monday the theme is 'pink & white' using a magical image (my trusty LOTV fairy on tiptoes!) and as pink is my favourite colour this card also fits in with the theme of 'favourite things' at Craft Your Days Away.

Flowers in Black & White

One more 'by the skin of my teeth entry' then I promise to be more organised and get my cards done within a couple of days of the challenges being announced!! This one is for ICS where the theme is a sketch. I must admit I enjoy the sketch challenges as it takes out some of the thinking needed and as I have so little time to craft at the moment, that is definitely a benefit!

Saturday, 7 August 2010

Bear Hug

Oh dear, another really late entry, this time for the Just Cute Bear Challenge where the theme this week is NOT a square and include a tag. I'm pleased to be back crafting, but can't wait to get into my own home where I can put everything in it's place and not be crafting out of boxes! Fingers crossed it won't be much longer!

PB Recipe

Another late entry, but at least I'm getting to craft a bit more now. This card is for the challenge at Penny Black Saturday Challenge. This week we are cooking! The recipe is 1 circle, two papers and 3 flowers. I was pleased with my card, but I can't say the same for my photographic skills, I really need to brush up on them, so apologies for a naf photo, but as usual I'm in a hurry and can't get it any clearer!

Fairy On Tiptoes

Finally, I found some time to produce a challenge card, talk about withdrawl symtoms! Unfortunately it is a rather late entry, but 'better late than never' I suppose. It is for the fortnightly challenge at Lili Of The Valley where the theme is a rather lovely sketch. I have had to resort to my trusty fairy on tiptoes LOTV stamp as it is the only one I own, although I have got some more on order which should hopefully be dropping through my mailbox any day, can't wait!

***NEW ONLINE SHOP***

Afternoon, long time no post, I have been up to my ears in work and moving into my Mother-in-Law's. I still haven't got around to making any challenge cards, although I have just finished an order for some 'Order of Service' cards to go with the invites I made a few months ago, so I have had a little creative time (thank goodness, otherwise I think I'd go mad!). So no card today, I have been trying to keep up with my favourite blogs and when I popped in to Crafty Emma I saw she has opened a new shop. To celebrate she is offering a £10.00 voucher. All you have to do to enter the draw is to post about her shop on your blog, so take a trip over there and have a peek. Hopefully I'll be back soon with some cards! TTFN

Sending Love

This might be my last post for a while as, after looking for 3 years and having a sale fall through at Christmas, it looks like we are finally on the move, although only as far as my mother-in-law's until August. My craft desk is coming with me as it may be the only thing that keeps me sane in the coming weeks lol!! This week's challenge at ICS is to choose a past sketch from a previous challenge and I have combined this card with the Pollycraft Monday Challenge where the theme is 'Hidden Message'.

Thank You

Ok, last post for today - probably! This week's theme at Just Cute Bears is 'Thank You' and I have decided to give my promarkers a rest - not for long though - and have used a 3d 'Popcorn the Bear' image for a change.

In The Garden

I have a lot of catching up to do after my week long break, so here is another challenge entry. Over at Penny Black Saturday Challenge the theme is 'In The Garden' - I have used one of their cute bunny images and seeing as I have used my promarkers I have also entered a second time in the Passion for Promarkers Challenge.

Male Card

Gosh, I'm having card-making withdrawal symptoms - I havn't made anything for a week as I have felt so lousy after having my teeth out (next time I'm getting knocked out!!). But I have pulled myself together today to squeeze in a card for this week's challenge at Passion for Promarkers - it ends tomorrow, but I didn't want to miss out on the chance to win some fab goodies which are up for grabs in celebration of their one year anniversary. The theme is 'Anything Goes', so I have opted for a male card which I find particularly difficult to do and have used a digi stamp for the first time. I have been thinking of downloading some of these for a while, but wasn't sure how they would print out, but they don't actually look any different from the real thing, I was rather impressed. I'm also entering the weekly sketch challenge at ICS - I find their sketches inspire me when I have card-maker's block!

LOTV Fantastic New Release!

No card today, I'm feeling a bit yucky as I had two teeth out including a wisdom tooth (bit worrying as I'm short on wisdom already!) and it wasn't a pleasant experience! Just wanted to share the news about the wonderful new release from LOTV which will be available from 1st June. Over at the Lili Of The Valley Challenge Blog they are offering the chance for one lucky follower to win a set. You need to be quick as you can only enter until midnight on the 29th May. Obviously I would LOVE to win this, but Good luck to everyone!

Fairy

At last, some sunshine, makes me want to actually get up in the morning! I even got chance to make a card before going to work today and I have decided to try a new challenge at Inspirational Card Sketches. I have also entered the Passion for Promarkers Challenge where this week's theme is 'fantasy/mythology'. I have had to resort to a fairy as this is the only stamp that I have that fit's the bill, but after seeing the DT cards, I am now hankering after a dragon one!

Just Because

Hello again! When I started this Blog, several people warned me that I would soon be addicted, oh no, not I, I thought! I decided to not try to run before I could walk and that I would follow just a couple of Blogs and 1 or 2 challenges. Yes well, that lasted all of 5 minutes, I didn't realise that it would be so easy and compelling to jump from Blog to Blog and to be so distracted by all the goings on! I soon realised that my time spent crafting would be eaten into and so I am taking a leaf out of other Blogs today and have made 1 card for 3 challenges. Over at Lili of The Valley , this fortnight's challenge is a great sketch, at Just Cute Bears it is a recipe (3 brads, 2 papers and 1 ribbon) and at Penny Black Saturday Challenge the theme is flowers.

Strawberries & Cream

It's Sunday afternoon, I have done my 'chores', the kids are occupied and I have a guilt free afternoon of crafting planned! Before I start on some challenge cards for the coming week (perhaps I'll get them entered in plenty of time, instead of at the last minute, lol!) I have managed to put together an entry for the Passion for Promarkers challenge. I struggled with this week's theme of 'Strawberries & Cream', but managed to find some suitable papers at the bottom of my stash, so I think it meets the criteria.

100th Challenge Blog Hop

Well, I am on a roll now and have made another card, this time the theme is a sketch for the 100th challenge at Penny Black Saturday Challenge. I have quite a few Penny Black stamps, but the hedgehogs are my favourite and I was able to incorporate more shapes cut with my cuttlebug. This is a special challenge as it is also a Blog Hop - something new to me, so I'm off to start hopping!

Multifold Card

True to my word, I have been crafting away and now have a card ready for this week's challenge at Just Cute Bears. The theme is to make a multifold card which gave me the chance to use the 'never ending' cards that I bought a while ago at Lili of the Valley. I definitely think my card meets the criteria this week, I can't count how many folds there are! I did get a bit muddled in the middle, not realising that elements on two of the sides would overlap, hopefully I got away with it, lol! I am giving this card to my 10 year old niece who is into card-making and I wanted to make her something different, so here it is.

LOTV Challenge #52

Well, I hate to say it as it's such a cliche, but where does the time go? I had great intentions of posting every few days and have already fallen by the wayside! To try and make up I have been beavering away on a few projects - the first of which is my entry for the 'Here Comes Summer' theme for this week's challenge at Lili Of The Valley. I love Popcorn the Bear, especially this lovely lazy image! I have recently discovered a treasure trove of a local craft shop and have used papers bought there and have finished the card off with some cute button brads.

Lili of The Valley Challenge #51

Hi again, a big thank you to the ladies who have left comments to my first post. I must admit I was rather relieved to see that I wasn't 'Billy No Mates'!! I gained a little confidence after managing to link my first post to a challenge and thought I'd have another go. So here is my entry for the Lili Of The Valley Challenge #51. This week the challenge is a sketch, which is great, because it gave me the chance to play with my new toy - A Cuttlebug. I have never used a die-cutting system before, am a little scared of it at the moment, but was really pleased with the results.

First Post

Well, here goes! Having registered this blog some time ago, I felt it was about time to get posting. I am a complete novice, do not have a clue what I am doing and hope that if anyone out there is daft enough to view my blog they will a) not switch off in disgust and b) share any handy tips to help me along (especially on how to link to other blogs). I have been visiting other card-making blogs and am completely in awe of them, something to aspire to I guess! I would also like to participate more on different blogs and have come to realise that having one myself would make things much easier, so here I am! I have been entering my card creations in the weekly challenge over at Passion for Promarkers for a couple of weeks (via email) and would like to join other challenges and share card-making ideas and tips on other blogs. So, to start off I will attempt to upload a picture of my entry into this week's challenge at Passion for Promarkers. I will now stop waffling and press the button and hope that I havn't made a complete mess of it!
